How to Houseplant

The How to Houseplant workshop took place on the 19th September in my top floor Hampstead apartment. The sun was shining all day, which meant the balcony looked resplendent and got everyone quite excited when they turned up.

Nine people were in attendance, including someone all the way from Sunny Melbourne, which was a lovely surprise. Good to know that we are spreading the Balcony Gardening love around the world – quite literally! A lovely group of people who were a joy to present to.

My presentation covered a number of topics including the vital tool kit, the must-dos and must-nots of house gardening, plant options, toppings, soil, how to plant, watering, types of planters, where to display and much more – concluding with a demonstration on how to create a simple terrarium.

Attendees were then invited to a tour of the apartment and my balconies, whilst Chef de Fabulous Sorrel Scott prepared the lunch which included:  Fig and Blue Cheese and Salmon and Gravalax open sandwiches, the tastiest Sausage Rolls that I have ever eaten, Tomato salad and then a Cream Tea and Courgette, Ginger and Lime Cake to finish (still dreaming about the cake!)
